Celebrating Our Neighbourhood Festival

The very first ‘Celebrating our Neighbourhood Festival’ begins this Saturday the 20th of June and runs until the 5th of July. Spanning across the villages of Cuckney, Norton, Holbeck and Welbeck, the festival offers a varied and exciting programme of events for all ages.

The festival events are open to all village residents and tenants and their friends and families.




Festival Event Schedule

Saturday 20th June 
10am to 4pm
Flower Festival in St Mary’s Church Cuckney
Free entry. Light refreshments. Wheelchair access and toilet facilities available. Guided Tours around the Church by members of the Battle of Hatfield Investigation Society at 11.30am and 2pm

Saturday 20th June
7.30pm to 11pm
Gala dinner at Lady Margaret Hall 5 course dinner.
Entertainment by the fabulous Detail Dance Company.
Dress code - Black tie or suit /cocktail dress

Sunday 21st June
10 am to 4pm

Songs of Praise service (with Holy communion) at St Mary’s Church Cuckney.
Led by Rev Simon Cash and the Exodus Choir.

Monday 22nd June
2.30pm -6.30pm
Ladies afternoon at The Ulvers in Cuckney.
Reflexology, Nail art, Indian Head massage (treatments at a small charge.Plus stalls by local businesses. Tea and scones. Toilet facilities available. No ticket required

Monday 22nd June
6pm to 7.30pm
Welbeck Bowls club invite you to try your hand at Bowls. Please wear flat shoes! Open to all ages.Toilet facilities available. Visitors in Wheelchairs welcome.No ticket required.

Tuesday 23rd June
3pm to 7pm
Open gardens in Cuckney 
Free entry. Take a stroll around the gardens of Meadowside, Rowan House and The Gables, then down to Poulterside and finish at Cuckney’s Community garden. Tea/ coffee in the Community garden provided by Cuckney Village Shop. Wheelchair access limited. No toilet facilities.

Wednesday 24th June
Quiz night at Welbeck Club – starts at 8.30pm.
Pit your wits on Jan’s Quiz questions
Bar open 7.30 – 11pm. Free buffet.
Wheelchair access and toilets available.
No ticket required. Club membership waived for this night.

Wednesday 24th June
6pm-7pm
A walk with Philip Willison to view his Pedigree Beef Shorthorn herd of cattle.
Meet Philip at 6pm at Hatfield Farm, Norton, parking at the rear entrance off Carburton Road.
Sorry no wheelchair access or toilet facilities. No ticket required.

Thursday 25th June
6-8pm
Archery for juniors (aged 8 to 16) at “Welbeck Abbey Bottoms”.
A great opportunity to try out this ancient skill. Free entry No ticket required.
Wheelchair access available. No toilet facilities. No refreshments on site.

Thursday 25th June
7.30pm
Whacky horse racing night in Cuckney Village hall.
Fun for all the family. Organised by the Garden Club Light refreshments on sale.
Free admission. No ticket required.

Friday 26th June
3.30 pm
Summer fair at Cuckney School.
No ticket required. Car parking is a problem, so if you can leave your car at home please do so. Wheelchair access and toilets available. Please note: this is the school’s annual fund raising event.

Friday 26th June
4pm onwards
Welbeck Tennis club event (at Lady Margaret Hall). A family event. Join in the fun and frolics.
BBQ and strawberry teas on sale.
Wheelchair access and toilets available. No ticket required.

Saturday 27th June
2pm onwards
Watch our local cricket teams in action at Cuckney Cricket Club.
Wheelchair access and toilet facilities available.

Saturday 27th June
11am to 3pm
Join Dave on his Bee Day at The Old Bakehouse, Bakers Lane, Cuckney.
View many aspects of beekeeping, including equipment, clothing and seeing bees at work.
There will be samples of honey and mead to taste. No ticket required.
Wheelchair access to part of the exhibit. No toilet facilities.

Sunday 28th June
2pm
Tractor rides through Welbeck Park. Leaves Lady Margaret Hall at 2pm.
No charge but a ticket is required as only 70 places. Tickets from Georgina Smith 842502.

Monday 29th June
2.30pm to 6pm Cuckney Village Hall
Members of the Norton Cuckney History Society are putting on a display of photos and memorabilia of our neighbourhood. Bring along your own photos of local interest to share. A special afternoon tea will be served at 3pm.Ticket for tea is £1, available from Richard Bower 01623 845566 and Morven Harrison 01623 845757. Anyone requiring transport to and from the event, please mention this when you buy your ticket and we will do our best to arrange transport for you.

Monday 29th June
6pm to 7.30pm

Tuesday 30th June
6pm
Family bike ride in Welbeck Estate led by Darren Ridout.
By kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. Parente.
Start point is Lady Margaret Crescent in Norton.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
(A back up vehicle will be available should anyone get into difficulties.)

Wednesday 1st July
6pm to 8pm
Welbeck Sailing Club invites you to their club at Welbeck Lake. So why not take a picnic and enjoy this fabulous opportunity to view the wonderful scenery. The clubhouse will provide hot drinks. Toilet facilities available. Sorry but not suitable for wheelchairs. Free admission No ticket required. Cars to meet at 6pm prompt at the Gate (past Lady Margaret Crescent in Norton) to be escorted to the Club.

Thursday 2nd July
10am -6pm
PR Home (next to The Ulvers in Cuckney) is holding an open day for the public. A great opportunity to have a browse around their showrooms. Free refreshments. Wheelchair access and Toilet facilities. Fee admission. No ticket required.

Thursday 2nd July 
Starts at 7pm
Guided tour of Welbeck Abbey Brewery by Claire Monk.
Here’s a great opportunity to see how our local brews are made and taste them, too! A buffet of home-made quiches, potato wedges and a range of salads will be provided by the School of Artisan Food. Next to the Brewery are two new companies that will be open for you to view. They are the Sundlaug Coffee Company and Naked Marshmellows. Ticket is £10 per person (A special discounted rate!) Arts and Crafts exhibition at St Winifred’s Church Holbeck.

An art class is being held in the grounds of the church.
