Head Gamekeeper, Reg Betts, retires after 33 years' service

Born and raised in the nearby village of Whitwell, Reg started as a trainee gamekeeper, working for Donald Perkins at Welbeck.  He then worked for several notable country estates including Buckminster and Chatsworth.

In 1984 Reg returned to Welbeck and worked as Beatkeeper at Millwood with his brother, Peter, who was then Head Gamekeeper.  Following Peter’s death Reg took over the reins for 8 successful years.

A small afternoon tea was held in celebration of his time at Welbeck.  William Parente, Principal, and Robin Brown, Managing Director, spoke highly of Reg’s commitment and service on the estate.

All warmly thanked Reg for his service and commitment to the estate and on behalf of his work colleagues Robin Brown presented Reg with a small gift, a decorative pheasant commissioned and hand made by Laura Baxter in one of the Harley Workshops.
