Congratulations to Welbeck’s own Rita Rhodes who was awarded a BEM in the 2013 New Year Honours for her services to the community. Rita and her husband Brian, ran the Welbeck Tennis Club since the early 1990s. They were both awarded a Guardian Rose last November for 'Services to Young People'. Rita and Brian moved to Welbeck from Sheffield in 1984 and soon began to forge strong links in the local community. They set up the Welbeck Tennis Club in 1991, with the club growing from strength to strength over the years – initially starting with just 30 members and growing to over 200 members in recent years. Currently, Rita, is secretary at St. Winifred’s Church at Welbeck and Vice Chair of Governors at Cuckney Primary School. A well deserved honour for a great lady!
