Welbeck Farm Shop - Best on Farm Butchery - FARMA Awards 2013

The Welbeck Farm Shop are proud winners of the 2013 UK Farm Retail Awards from FARMA (The National Farmer’s Retail and Markets’ Association) for Best on Farm Butchery. The winners were announced at the awards ceremony held on the 12th of February 2013 at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate. The awards were presented by celebrity chef and FARMA patron, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. The FARMA awards recognise excellence across the farm retail sector. They look for people and businesses that exhibit a passion for local food, outstanding examples of customer service and experience, solid business performance, skillful staff management, effective marketing and PR, and a commitment to their local community and the environment.

The Welbeck Farm Shop were short listed from over 300 entries for the ‘Best on Farm Butchery’ award and were also finalists in the ‘Own and Local’ category. The FARMA award entries are judged by a panel of industry peers and retail experts including assessments from independent mystery shoppers. Award judge, Andy Jeffery, commented: “ A phenomenal team of butchers - they could turn a vegetarian into a carnivore in ten minutes!”

At the Welbeck Farm Shop we take pride in offering local produce from our network of trusted suppliers. We feature produce from the Welbeck Estate, home to Stichelton cheese, Welbeck Bakehouse breads, Welbeck Abbey Brewery ales, and Boutique Aromatique chocolates. Our award winning butchery stocks meat from the Welbeck Estate, our deli features British Cheese from Neal’s Yard Dairy along with our own delicious sausage rolls and pasties, and our fruit and vegetable displays offer seasonal produce from local growers.
