Housekeeper Vacancy

Full-Time 40 hours per week over 5 days, with occasional weekends.

A motivated, energetic, and experienced housekeeper is required to support the day-to-day running of a large family home. They will be responsible for cleaning, tidying, washing and ironing, making and changing beds, and running errands, as well as some childcare including some school runs and occasional cooking (for someone with the relevant skills).

This is a live-out housekeeper position, however rental accommodation in the local area could be available if required.

Essential Requirements:

The successful candidate should have some flexibility in their working hours, although notice will be given of any weekend or evening requirements and time will be given back in lieu.

Past relevant experience in a similar role would be preferred, as well as experience of cleaning fine arts, fabrics, and antiques. They should be organised, meticulous and self-motivated, using their initiative to identify tasks and perform these to an excellent standard, taking pride in their work.

Prior experience with children is important and someone who is happy to work in a busy household with animals. There is a requirement to support the family when they have guests, so hospitality experience is desirable but not essential.

The ability to be discrete is a must.

Duties include:

  • Creating and following cleaning routines, using a good knowledge of and the proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment to deliver the highest possible levels of cleanliness and tidiness in both routine cleaning and annual deep cleaning.
  • A high level of laundry service, including the washing and care of fine and delicate clothing, the organisation, delivery, and collection of dry cleaning, ironing, and putting away of bedlinen and clothing. Clothing repairs as required (for someone with the relevant skills).
  • Preparation for and serving at formal functions (experience in this area would be desirable but not essential).
  • Preparation and checks of guest rooms before visitor arrivals and cleaning after departure.
  • Organising and replenishing cleaning materials as appropriate.
  • Re-stocking basic household groceries and ensuring the pantry is appropriately stocked when the family returns following time away.
  • Occasional dog walking and feeding.
  • Assist with food preparation/cooking occasionally as required.
  • Ensuring house plants are watered and dead flowers removed.
  • Notifying internal departments of any minor repairs/maintenance required in the house.
  • Ad hoc errands as required.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties required by the Employer.

Candidates must have their own transport due to the location of the house and be able to provide good character references.

Applications should include a cover letter stating salary expectations and a CV and be sent to recruitment@welbeck.co.uk
