Advanced Diploma in Artisan Baking

Our six-month Advanced Diploma in Artisan Baking has equipped hundreds of people with the practical and business skills needed to pursue a successful career in artisan baking.

This Diploma course is designed by artisan bakers to inspire a new generation of food producers, equipping them with the advanced baking skills and business knowledge to launch a successful artisan bakery, work in the baking industry or manage a bakery enterprise.

The six-month intensive, full-time course is an externally accredited Food and Drink Qualification (FDQ). It combines practical, hands-on training in bread making, patisserie and viennoiserie with contextual study focusing on the food landscape and every aspect of establishing a food business start-up.

Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Artisan Food Production

Our two-year foundation degree course in Artisan Food Production offers unrivalled tuition from experienced artisan producers, and has the option of a practical placement sandwich year, giving you all the skills and knowledge you’ll need to forge a successful career in the industry.

The course covers everything from developing practical expertise and producing a range of food products, to setting up an artisan food business. You'll study the functionality of high-end food ingredients, and practical skills such as bread-making, patisserie and viennoiserie, butchery, charcuterie and cheese-making.

Taught in collaboration with food technology specialists at Nottingham Trent University, the course is split between the School of Artisan Food and the University’s Brackenhurst Campus – a free shuttle bus transports students between the two.

BSc (Hons) Artisan Food Production

We are excited to be working with Nottingham Trent University to deliver a three-year BSc (Hons) course in Artisan Food Production. With unrivalled tuition from experienced artisan producers, you will gain the knowledge and confidence to forge a successful career in the ever-changing food industry.

This course covers everything from developing practical skills and producing a range of food products to setting up an artisan food business. You'll study the functionality of ingredients, and practical skills such as bread-making, patisserie and cheese-making. You will explore raw materials and how to source them sustainably and ethically, develop new products for a local farm shop and explore the cultural importance of traditional artisan foods, both within the UK and further afield
