Welbeck Solar Farm Developments

Construction work is nearing completion at two ground-mounted solar panel sites located on the Welbeck Estate. A 32-acre solar farm at Hunciecroft will generate 7.5MW of low carbon electricity; sufficient energy to power 2,150 homes in the local area. The 70-acre site at Hazel Gap will produce 16MW of solar power, providing 4,300 homes in the region with clean energy.

The sites will be ecologically friendly zones with ground nesting birds and other local flora and fauna encouraged to flourish across the sites. The solar farms are planned to be in use for a 25-year period, after which the land will be returned to agricultural use.

The Harley Foundation is currently developing a solar farm to provide green energy for their new Gallery, which is scheduled to open to the public in 2016. These developments reflect the Welbeck Estate’s commitment to renewable energy technologies and the reduction of carbon emissions across the estate.
