Welbeck Farm Shop backs World Refill Day - 16 June 2021
11 June 2021
The team at Welbeck Farm Shop will be backing World Refill Day on 16th June and are inviting shoppers to join them in their bid to help prevent plastic pollution.
World Refill Day is a global campaign all about raising awareness of the pollution caused by plastic and helping people live with less waste.
It’s something the team at Welbeck Farm Shop are very passionate about too. They are always looking for ways to reduce their packaging. It’s why they were one of the first farm shops to introduce a refill station back in 2018.
In partnership with Catherine Conway, the founder of Unpackaged, they added the pioneering new service to give customers the chance to shop in a traditional way and cut back on the use of plastic.
It offers shoppers the opportunity to bring along their own containers and stock up on unpackaged foods such as cereals, rice, nuts, and dried food. They can simply weigh the goods, fill their containers and take them to the tills to pay. For those who don't have containers though, there's the option to use the shop's paper packaging too. It avoids single use plastics, and purchasing by weight, there's less risk of food waste too!
Shoppers can also bring their own containers for purchases from the award winning butchery counter, or buy a refillable glass bottle for the estate's raw milk vending machine, located within the Farm Shop. To find out more, read on.
