NEW dates released for craft courses
16 July 2021
Want to take up a new hobby or learn a new craft? The Harley Gallery has released new dates for its monthly Makers Club.
From giving your wardrobe a boost to creating baskets, decorations and alternative festive centrepieces, there’s a creative outlet to let your imagination run free. Each session gives crafters the chance to try something different.
Led by Ruth Waller, a textile artist at the Harley Studios, the Makers Club is all about sharing her own love of making and crafting to inspire others.
“The Makers Club is for all those who have ever wanted to give crafting a go,” she says. “People coming along don’t need to have any experience at all, or even previous knowledge, but can join us for a couple of hours. They can chat with like-minded people and have a go at something new.”
“All of us have creative abilities and the Makers Club gives people the chance to work with their hands and create something in a relaxed environment.”
Sessions coming up include:
- Stitched tattoos and patches – Saturday 25 September, 2-4.30pm
Give your wardrobe a restyle with embroidered tattoos and patches. Bring along a garment you would like to embellish or make patches that can be added to something at a later date.
- Plaited baskets and mats – Saturday 16 October, 2-4.30pm
Spend the afternoon making a basic bias plaited basket, or a plaited mat, using recycled, upcycled and found materials.
- Tin decorations – Saturday 20 November, 2-4.30pm
Have fun making unique Christmas decorations using recycled tin with embossing and piercing techniques. Combine with beads, tassels and wire and make something you will want on display all year round.
- Alternative Christmas centrepieces and wreaths – Saturday 18 December, 2-4.30pm
Make an alternative Christmas wreath or a seasonal centrepiece. You’ll be able to explore techniques to creating something a little out of the ordinary, from minimal nature inspired wreaths to flamboyant and colourful contemporary table decorations.
More details can be found on The Harley Gallery website. Each session costs £20 and includes materials. Places can be booked by calling The Harley Gallery on 01909 501 700 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
