Welbeck Winter Weekend set to return in 2022

Welbeck Winter Weekend is set to return this November and will take place within Welbeck’s Grand Victorian Hunting Stables.

The event last took place in 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic. After two years of cancellations, the event organisers are forging ahead with plans to ensure the event will take place in November 2022.

Between 25th - 27th November, art and food stalls will fill the large 19th-century stable block and courtyard, enabling visitors to explore a fine selection of stalls within the large courtyard that once housed the 96 horses that belonged to the 5th Duke of Portland. The building formed part of the Duke’s ambitious building works that included the creation of Welbeck Village.

The Welbeck Winter Weekend is known for celebrating all things handmade, and this year will be no exception. Visitors will be able to buy handcrafted pieces created by a range of artists and makers, brought together by The Harley Gallery, and have the opportunity to explore the artists’ workspaces within the nearby Harley Studios. Visitors will also discover stall upon stall of fine local food and drink, selected by Welbeck Farm Shop.

Perfect backdrop

Nicola Brown, Event Organiser, said:

“It’s fantastic to finally start putting plans into place to see the return of one of Welbeck’s most popular and highly visited attractions. More excitingly, we have a whole new venue for the event, as we plan to open up the Grand Victorian Hunting Stables, offering a beautiful and atmospheric backdrop.

The Grand Hunting Stables have a cobbled courtyard surrounded by 96 horse boxes, with very few changes from its original construction in 1862. The building is testament to the 5th Duke of Portland’s architectural and artistic ambitions and provides the perfect backdrop for contemporary artists, makers and designers.”

Parking and traffic management arrangements will be different too this year, as the team looks at improving the visitor experience. The event will be advanced tickets only with a £5 entrance fee. Tickets will be available from mid-summer.

So, for now, save the date, 25 – 27 November!

  • Event organisers look forward to announcing further details and welcoming visitors back later in the year.
