Estate supports Creswell Crags' fundraising auction

Businesses across Welbeck estate are pleased to offer support to Creswell Crags' fundraising auction, which will be hosted by Derbyshire auctioneer and TV celebrity, Charles Hanson, on 3 July.

The museum and visitor attraction at Creswell recently warned it could face closure due to the lockdown as all income from visitors and customers came to an abrupt end. A major fundraising campaign was launched and Charles Hanson of Hanson Auctioneers, who is known for his appearances on BBC’s Bargain Hunt, stepped in to host an online auction.

All money raised during the auction will help Creswell Crags re-open to the public – and remain open into 2021.

Welbeck estate was happy to help too and has offered a two-night stay for up to four people at The Winnings holiday cottage (pictured above), including a Welbeck Farm Shop hamper and a meal at The Harley Café. In addition, The Harley Gallery has donated a family pottery experience as an auction lot. People will be able to bid for these along with many more lots that have been donated by local organisations.

Chief Executive of Welbeck Estates Company Ltd, Ian Goodwin, said: “We are happy to support Creswell Crags. It is a hugely important heritage site and must be protected for future generations.”

Advance bids can be made before the evening auction, and also live online from 6.30pm on 3 July. If you’d like to bid for any of the lots, head to the Creswell Crags' social media feeds for all the latest updates on how to get involved. Further details can also be found on the Hanson Auctioneers' website.
