Recently named Cafe of the Year 23/24 in the Great Food Club Awards, The Harley Cafe is part of a multi-award-winning Farm Shop based on the Welbeck Estate, on the outskirts of Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The shop is famed for its locally sourced, full carcass butchery counter, Neals Yard cheeses, estate walled garden produce and network of fantastic local suppliers, which creates a dream larder for our Chefs.
This is a demanding role in our very busy Café.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for the overall guest experience, compliance, and management of the front-of-house team.
The successful candidate must have a real passion for engaging with people and serving great food. Front of house service experience is essential, and it would be desirable for candidates to have previous management experience in a similar high pace setting.
Due to the nature of our business this role will include regular weekend work. A flexible approach to shifts will be required as our trade can vary with external factors, such as changes to the weather. We have a small team with a shared passion for the business and a team mentality is essential.
Hours typically fall between 8am and 5pm with occasional later shifts for stocktake.
Accountability for the following:
• Supporting the café manager in all areas of the business and deputising in their absence
• Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures to protect the business, including fire, health and safety and all training.
• Increasing the profitability of the Café
• Responsibility for the Café’s front-of-house operation
• Implementing and continuously evolving front-of-house processes and methods of work
• Driving excellent service on a consistent basis
• Delivering KPI’s
• Management of all front-of-house staff, including baristas, covering training, ensuring good morale and staff retention
• Motivating and driving performance of direct reports
• Help maintain consistent working standards
• Greeting customers
• Taking orders
• Preparing drinks
• Serving prepared food
• Clearing tables
• Maintaining standards throughout the day
• Must have experience of working in a fast-paced role
• Management experience in a fast-paced customer service role is ideal
• Previous experience of building strong working relationships
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
• Excellent communication skills
