Job Title: Natural Capital Programme Manager
Location: The Welbeck Estates Company Limited, Cavendish House, S80 3LL

Job type:  Full Time. Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

Welbeck has initiated an ambitious programme of investment in its Natural Capital. This includes a portfolio of climate change mitigation & resilience and biodiversity initiatives across its extensive farmland, peatland, riparian and woodland habitats.

This role is new to the estate and will be responsible for driving the programme of work to ensure it meets quality, timeline and budget objectives and milestones.

It will include day-to-day utilisation of big data and cloud technologies, with a particular focus on programme monitoring, review and reporting to a range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaboration with external consultants to coordinate Natural Capital surveys.
  • Work with Estate management to implement and monitor Habitat Management Plans.
  • Coordinate Natural Capital data collection, analyses and reporting.
  • Collaboration with Estate Map team to collate and utilise geospatial data to enhance. Natural Capital analytics and scenario modelling.
  • First point of contact for in-house and statutory enquiries.
  • Coordination of agri-environment, Peatland Code, Woodland Carbon Code and other public and private finance programmes.
  • Provision of day-to-day advice to Estate team regarding Natural Capital Programme activities, scoping in external subject matter expertise when required.
  • Support Marketing & Communications team in the production of Natural Capital-related print and digital collateral.
  • Degree in Ecology or related field, or significant experience within a professional ecological consultancy or for a large landowner.
  • Successful track record in managing multiple or complex Natural Capital projects.
  • An understanding of and a real appetite to learn how emerging technologies and big data can support Natural Capital programme and large landowner objectives.
  • Intermediate GIS experience.
  • Understanding of agri-environment schemes and Natural Capital markets.
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent, or willingness to achieve accreditation soon after start.
  • Strong Public, Private, Third Sector stakeholder management skills.

Ongoing training will be provided for the successful candidate.
