Welbeck-based Primrose Creamery is celebrating an exceptional double success at the Great Taste Golden Forks, with two of its artisan cheeses recognised among the very best food and drink products in the world.
Eggleston was named the Golden Fork winner for England after first receiving a coveted three-star Great Taste award. From 306 three-star products entered across the globe, it progressed through three separate rounds of judging to secure the prestigious regional accolade.
The judges praised Eggleston’s outstanding balance of flavours, describing a soulful, savoury character in the rind and a texture that was “spot on”. Its exciting aroma, nuanced flavour and lasting finish also impressed the panel, which called the cheese clearly artisanal, complex and delicious, with a thoroughly enjoyable mouthfeel.
There was further cause for celebration when Lindley, another cheese from Primrose Creamery, received the Golden Fork for Outstanding Bursary Winner. Together, the two awards underline the creamery’s commitment to careful making, distinctive flavour and exceptional quality.
Seventeen Golden Forks were announced during the ceremony, celebrating remarkable producers from across the world. The Great Taste 2026 Supreme Champion title went to Entrepeñas for its Wagyu Beef Ham. For the first time, the winner was chosen during a live judging session, with an expert panel including Dhruv Baker, Ixta Belfrage, Marie Mitchell, José Pizarro, Nicola Waller, Regula Ysewijn MBE and Jesse Jenkins.
Great Taste recognition is hard won. According to John Farrand, managing director of the Guild of Fine Food, 60% of products entered receive no star rating, while only around 2% achieve three stars. A Golden Fork therefore represents an extraordinary accomplishment for any maker and highlights products with the character, craftsmanship and flavour to stand apart.
For Primrose Creamery, this double triumph is a proud moment and another example of the outstanding food and drink produced at Welbeck. Rooted in artisan methods and an exacting approach to quality, Eggleston and Lindley now join an international line-up of products recognised for delivering a truly memorable taste experience.
Recognised as a stamp of excellence and actively sought out by food lovers and retailers alike, the Great Taste accreditation scheme, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, values taste above all else. Each product is blind-tasted, with all its packaging removed, and undergoes a robust, layered judging process.
This year, judging took place over 105 days, with a panel of more than 800 judges putting entries to the test. The line-up saw food and drink products submitted from an extraordinary 116 different countries across the world.
The Great Taste logo is recognised by 58% of the UK adult population. Of those adults, 74% say a Great Taste award makes a product more tempting, 73% say the logo is a trustworthy recommendation and 54% use Great Taste as a signpost for discovering new products (YouGov, December 2025).
