Explore the permitted public walking routes across Welbeck Estate with your dog, then round off your visit with refreshments or shopping in the Welbeck Courtyard. With countryside views and Welbeck Dog Park, the estate offers an enjoyable way to spend time outdoors with your four-legged companion.
Dogs are welcome on the public rights of way across the
Welbeck Estate. Choose from routes through ancient woodland, wild parkland, peaceful avenues and open countryside, with walks to suit anything from a gentle stroll to a longer adventure.
Welbeck is a working countryside estate and home to wildlife, livestock and crops. Please keep your dog on a short lead and under close control, stay on the recommended routes, use the bins provided and close gates behind you.
Dogs are not permitted inside Welbeck’s indoor visitor
spaces. Assistance dogs are welcome.
Before setting out, check where dogs are permitted, where leads are required and whether the Welbeck Dog Park needs to be booked in advance. Bring drinking water and waste bags, and take extra care around livestock, wildlife, estate vehicles and other visitors. Welbeck is a working estate, so routes and access may occasionally change. Assistance-dog arrangements may differ from the general dog policy.
Daily, 7am–4pm. Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Easter Sunday.
Free parking is available in the main visitor car park, around a one to two-minute walk from the dog fields. For estate walks, the car park is open Monday to Saturday, 8am–5pm, and Sunday, 8am–4pm. It is closed on Easter Sunday and over the Christmas period. Gates are locked at closing time, and hours may vary.
The Dog Park is at the start of the Harley Art Trail. From The Courtyard, continue through the gate at the end of The Harley Gallery and cross at the controlled crossing.
Dog Park visitors have access to shelters, water troughs and seating within the fields. Toilets, food and drink and other visitor facilities are available in and around The Courtyard during individual venue opening hours. Please note that dogs are not permitted inside certain venues, although assistance dogs are welcome. The Harley Café also offers a dedicated dog menu, so four-legged visitors can enjoy a treat too.
The Dog Park fields are grassed outdoor spaces and conditions may vary with the weather. Visitors with particular access requirements are encouraged to check Welbeck’s detailed accessibility information or contact the team before travelling.
Reception can be limited across the estate. Download any digital maps before your visit; printed estate maps are available in The Courtyard, subject to availability.
Help us protect the estate and ensure everyone has an enjoyable visit: keep to public rights of way and recommended routes; keep dogs on a short lead and under close control outside the Dog Park; clear up after your dog; place litter in the bins provided; do not allow dogs to disturb livestock or wildlife; and never leave dogs unattended in the Dog Park.
