The Welbeck Estate, The Harley Foundation, and Colour Your Streets have joined forces in a unique and imaginative project: creating a bespoke colouring book celebrating Welbeck's rich history, architecture, and landscape. Designed for children, the colouring book offers an opportunity to engage with the estate’s heritage through creativity and art.
Colour Your Streets, founded by BBC host Emma Barnett and Jeremy Weir, started with the simple idea of creating a colouring book for their son. This quickly turned into a thriving business, and they have since published over 170 titles covering various neighbourhoods and cities. The books are designed to be both educational and enjoyable.
Cat Storey, Marketing Manager for the Welbeck Estate, expressed her enthusiasm for the project:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be working with Colour Your Streets to bring together a creative collaboration between the businesses here at Welbeck. Creating Welbeck’s first-ever colouring book is a fantastic celebration of our shared heritage and community spirit, and we hope it inspires children to connect with the estate in a new and creative way.”
The colouring book includes detailed illustrations of iconic Welbeck landmarks, such as the grand Welbeck Abbey, the Harley Gallery itself, and scenes from the surrounding estate. Each page is accompanied by short descriptions, providing fascinating snippets of history and insight, allowing colourists to learn about the estate as they bring the images to life.
A key feature of this colouring book is its wide appeal. The designs vary in complexity, with simpler outlines for very young hands and more intricate patterns for a more absorbing activity.
To celebrate the launch of our new colouring-in book, we are inviting children to participate in a special competition. To enter, design a picture of your favourite thing at Welbeck and upload your artwork to our competition page. Once submitted, encourage and share with your friends and family to vote for your creation.
