Welbeck Farm Shop shortlisted for two national awards

The Welbeck Farm Shop, located at the centre of our dynamic food community, has been selected as a finalist for two prestigious national awards. It is featured in the Large Farm Shop of the Year categories for both the Farm Retail Association Awards and the Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards. Winners will be announced at ceremonies scheduled for 11 March and 13 April, respectively. Additionally, the Estate’s Harley Café has been nominated for Café of the Year in the Farm Retail Association Awards.

Oliver Stubbins, Director at Welbeck Farm Shop, stated:

“We are honoured to receive recognition from the judging panels of the Farm Retail Association and the Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards. These awards are highly regarded within our sector and reflect the commitment and expertise of our entire team and our suppliers, many of whom operate on the Welbeck Estate. Having been awarded the 2024 Large Farm Shop of the Year by the Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards, we look forward to the opportunity for continued success.”

Award ceremonies

The Farm Retail Association Awards, sponsored by Fieldfare, recognise excellence across the industry, highlighting outstanding farm retailers throughout the UK. Unique in being judged by peers, these awards commend exemplary farm shops, cafés, restaurants, farmers’ markets, pick-your-owns, and trade suppliers. A rigorous three-stage assessment process, including site visits by fellow farm retailers, precedes the announcement of winners during the ceremony on Wednesday, 11th March, at Cedar Court Hotel in Harrogate.

Supported by Fieldfare and The Grocer, the Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards are known for celebrating independent retailers who promote British produce, sustainable procurement, and superior customer service. The shortlist spans eight categories and includes established family businesses, innovative new entrants, village stores, artisanal enterprises, farm shops, and expanding online retailers. In total, 54 businesses have been shortlisted, with winners to be revealed at the Farm Shop & Deli Show on Monday, 13th April.

Since its opening in 2006, Welbeck Farm Shop has developed a reputation as one of the region's premier farm shops. The majority of its products are sourced from or produced on the Welbeck Estate, including estate meats, game, and raw milk—dispensed via an in-store vending machine and used in the renowned Stichelton blue cheese. Additional products under the Made at Welbeck range feature ale from Welbeck Abbey Brewery and bread from Welbeck Bakehouse.
