Sleeping four people in two bedrooms, the cottage forms part of The Winnings, a row of ornate almshouses built by Welbeck Abbey’s 6th Duke of Portland.

The Winnings are a combination of holiday guests and tenants on the estate. Cottage guests are asked to use their allocated garden area, please and not to cross into the tenants' gardens.

  • One highchair and two travel cots are available. Subject to availability.

  • Dogs are not allowed in this property, although exceptions can be made where an assistance dog is needed by a member of your party. Please let us know when you book.

You just can’t keep us away from this fabulous place. This time, the two of us returned to The Winnings to re-experience that wonderful feeling of “living” on the estate — if only for a little while — surrounded by the beautiful golden Victorian stone buildings and peaceful grounds. The history of the estate adds so much to the experience. The 5th Duke of Portland, known as the “burrowing duke” because of his extensive underground works, created an extraordinary collection of buildings, tunnels and the vast riding school. Lovely accomodation! We stayed in December because we were guests at a wedding at nearby Hazel Gap barn and it had everything we needed. We liked it so much we're already planning to book it again for a weekend in the summer, when hopefully we'll have the time and some warm weather to do a bit of exploring, then sit outside and enjoy the surroundings 🙂

What a beautiful setting for a few days of relaxation. The Winnings is such a special property on the most beautiful estate. I really couldn't fault it, or the warm service before and during our stay. Thoroughly recommended.

Stayed here as part of a wedding group. It was very close to hazel gap and lovely house to stay in. The curtains/blinds aren't great and let light in. Would also have been nice to have a fan as when it's warm it's really warm!
