It is believed that the first lake at Welbeck estate, known as Carburton Forge Lake, was built in 1695. Ten acres of land were leased to John Wheeler of Worcester in 1695 by the Duke, on which he was empowered to build the forge, a dam pool and floodgates.

Welbeck Solar Farm Developments
24 March 2015
Construction work is nearing completion at two ground-mounted solar panel sites located on the Welbeck Estate. A 32-acre solar farm at Hunciecroft will generate 7.5MW of low carbon electricity; sufficient energy to power 2,150 homes in the local area. The 70-acre site at Hazel Gap will produce 16MW of solar power, providing 4,300 homes in the region with clean energy.

The Welbeck Estate and The School of Artisan Food are featured in BBC Two's Escape to the Country. BBC Two's Escape to the Country helps prospective buyers find their dream home in the country. In this series Jules Hudson helps a prospective buyer search for residential properties in Nottinghamshire. The programme's first broadcast was in August 2013 and the series is now being aired again on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.

Testament of Youth - World Premier

Filmed on the Welbeck Estate as well as other locations in Yorkshire, Oxford and London, Testament of Youth, a First World War drama starring Kit Harrington and Alicia Vikander, will premier at the 2014 BFI London Film Festival next month. Produced by Heyday Films and directed by James Kent, the film depicts Juliette Towhidi’s adapted screenplay of Vera Brittain's iconic and powerful First World War memoir, a searing story of love and war, first published in 1933.
