Developed by Catherine Conway, the founder at Unpackaged, this scheme is inspired by a traditional way of shopping - where goods are measured and weighed and do not come in hard-to-recycle plastic packaging.

Dayle Green has worked at The Harley Gallery for 12 years, initially as a part-time Gallery Assistant before taking on her current position as Education and Engagement Manager in 2012.

Born and raised in the nearby village of Whitwell, Reg started as a trainee gamekeeper, working for Donald Perkins at Welbeck. He then worked for several notable country estates including Buckminster and Chatsworth.

The Portland Collection's first year has been highly successful, seeing over 75,000 visitors and winning numerous awards. Designed by Hugh Broughton Architects the building was named RIBA's East Midlands Building of the Year 2016, it was honoured with a silver award in the American Architecture Prize 2016 and more recently a Civic Trust Commendation.

Congratulations to Browns of Holbeck for achieving Visit England's ROSE Award. Robin and Joan Brown have successfully run the bed and breakfast at Holbeck on the Welbeck estate since 1990. The Visit England ROSE Award was given for their excellent customer care which they provide with the warmest of welcomes.

Alison Doxey and Stephen Welch were awarded Gold for 'The Garden Bed' in the Artisan Garden category. Master florist Alison and chartered landscape architect Stephen collaborated to create a garden that perfectly encapsulated the theme of this year's show: Health, Happiness and Horticulture.

Estate records show that ale has been produced at Welbeck for centuries and enjoyed by the family and staff alike. In the 18th century the estate’s brewhouse produced eight hogsheads (4048 pints) of beer at a time. Following on in this timeless tradition and now in its fifth year of operation, Welbeck Abbey Brewery produces over 18,000 pints of hand-crafted beer a week, using only four quality ingredients – malted Maris Otter barley, whole-flower hops from across the world, the estate’s own natural spring water and a unique variety of nurtured yeast.

Construction work is nearing completion at two ground-mounted solar panel sites located on the Welbeck Estate. A 32-acre solar farm at Hunciecroft will generate 7.5MW of low carbon electricity; sufficient energy to power 2,150 homes in the local area. The 70-acre site at Hazel Gap will produce 16MW of solar power, providing 4,300 homes in the region with clean energy.

The Welbeck Estate and The School of Artisan Food are featured in BBC Two's Escape to the Country. BBC Two's Escape to the Country helps prospective buyers find their dream home in the country. In this series Jules Hudson helps a prospective buyer search for residential properties in Nottinghamshire. The programme's first broadcast was in August 2013 and the series is now being aired again on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.

Mick Lingard was awarded the Kenneth Wilson Trophy, the highest award in the Nottinghamshire Grassland Society's annual silage competition. This prestigious award is judged on the complete silage production process, from the establishment of grass, through to harvesting, clamping and feeding.

As part of the Welbeck Estates Infrastructure for Enterprise project the Welbeck Estate will be creating six new food-standard workshops for SME and new-start artisan food producers within the Brewery Yard, by redeveloping a redundant farm-stores building and by providing necessary drainage and electricity infrastructure. This construction work is expected to commence in January 2014, and will be completed by May 2014.

The Welbeck Sourdough loaf, withstanding strong competition from other UK producers, was awarded two gold stars and the Bakehouse’s infamous cheese biscuits received one gold star.

For centuries, Welbeck has been a place of constant evolution. In 2005, a new chapter in Welbeck’s history was to begin when the MOD, who had used Welbeck Abbey along with other Estate buildings as a Sixth Form College since 1954, made the decision to leave. With the MOD’s departure came David Hibbert and the formation of the Welbeck Abbey Maintenance team.

The gardens at Welbeck, originally the grounds of a Premonstratensian Abbey were developed by Francis Richardson and Humphry Repton in the late 18th century with further developments by Alfred Parsons and Walter Partridge in the late 19th and early 20th century.

Runners and Riders: The Rise of Modern Horse Racing, the new treasury exhibition at the Harley Gallery is now open. The exhibition recounts how the Cavendish-Bentinck family at Welbeck developed horse racing to become the sport we know today, accompanied by works by leading equestrian painters. Exhibition talks featuring a wide array of well known speakers are scheduled to accompany this fabulous exhibition.
